Jeweled Flower Mantis (Creobroter gemmatus)
Creobroter gemmatus, commonly known as the jeweled flower mantis, is a colorful and active species of praying mantis native to Southeast Asia. Known for their striking patterns and flower-like appearance, they use mimicry to blend into blooms and ambush prey. These mantises prefer warm, humid environments with temperatures around 75–85°F (24–29°C) and humidity between 60–80%. In captivity, they do well in vertically oriented enclosures with plenty of climbing space and ventilation. C. gemmatus is a relatively small mantis, typically reaching about 1-1.5 inches in length, and they are known for their speed and agility. They feed on a variety of small insects such as fruit flies, and houseflies. This is one of the many flower mantis species. These are easy to care for and live a long time. They are known for the “smiley face” markings on their adult wings. This was actually the first mantis I ever sold!
